AXA Health Bournemouth Bay Run delights runners in glorious sunshine

Over 4000 runners arrived at Bournemouth’s iconic seafront on Sunday April 3 for the 39th annual Bournemouth Bay Run, sponsored in 2022 by AXA Health.
Across four events, comprising a 1km fun-run, a 5km and 10km and, the headlining half-marathon events, runners of all ages and abilities were welcomed by sponsors and spectators to a balmy beachfront.
AXA Health were prominent as title sponsor for the event in 2022, and several entries represented the firm across the day’s races. The British Heart Foundation also enjoyed hearty representation as Charity Sponsor once more of the event.
BH Live Active returned as Partner Sponsor and their energetic representatives led the race warm-ups and prize giving at Pier Approach, celebrating the top three men and women from the 10km and half-marathon races.
HOT Radio provided enthusiastic commentary, as well as live music from the front of Bournemouth’s Pavilion, giving Bay Run a festival atmosphere befitting of the glorious weather welcoming runners to the seafront on Sunday.
Beryl assisted as Sustainable Travel Partner, enabling supporters to traverse the half-marathon and 10km routes via bike or e-scooter reducing congestion and emissions across the event site.
Race Director Tom Powell said, “"It was fantastic to welcome so many runners back to the AXA Health Bournemouth Bay Run for the first time since 2019. The event remained as popular as ever, the weather was fantastic, and it was great to see so many enthusiastic spectators lining the route to cheer on the runners taking part."
Attention now turns to 2023, with dates for the 40th anniversary Bournemouth Bay Run to be confirmed in due course.
