TAKE IT IN – AND STAY HOME TO SAVE LIVES
Bournemouth, Christchurch & Poole Tourism and BCP Council reinforces national message.
April 9th 2020: The Bournemouth, Christchurch & Poole Tourism Team (BCP Council) have created a strong emotional video echoing the Government’s advice to stay at home and save lives.
The tourism team has released the video encouraging people to stand still, reflect, take a mindful moment and be assured that the resort and the wider Dorset area, with its stunning historical coastline and glorious beaches, will still be here to visit once the travel ban has been lifted. With beautiful epic shots, its strong message is a direct and honest plea to everyone still considering a weekend trip to the county – don’t.
Lewis Allison, Portfolio Holder for Tourism, Leisure and Communities, BCP Council said: “A campaign like this goes against everything we believe in and everything tourist boards work so incredibly hard to achieve, as a coastal resort tourism contributes massively to us and the wider Dorset county, it’s at the heart of our economies. But now for the time being, as we fight the global pandemic this is what we all have to do, it’s simple, stay at home.”
Video footage includes iconic landmarks and features around the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole region including Bournemouth Beach and Pier and Sandbanks as well as glorious countryside, coastline and woodlands all of which are on our doorstep.
Councillor Allison added; “Like every other tourist destination across the country the message is simple, we are asking visitors not to come, not to visit their second homes, or holiday homes, and to not go anywhere unless they have an essential reason to travel.
“What makes the resorts, and the surrounding areas, unique will always be here - the open spaces, beautiful beaches, countryside, forests and gardens will still be here. We look forward to welcoming people back when all this is over to enjoy Bournemouth, Christchurch & Poole together.’
