No matter the season, there are some lovely walks to go on, in and around Christchurch. Gather your family, the dog or take yourself for a breath of fresh air in nature.
Whether you love sea views, or exploring the forest there are plenty of walks to go on!

Our first walk takes us to St. Catherine’s Hill, which is lovely secret spot in Christchurch. From the top of the hill, expect some lovely views out over the town and across to the cliffs of the Isle of Wight and Christchurch Priory. There are circular walks on top and then down the hill. If you come at the right time of year, you may see some Nightjars in the evening, and if look very carefully, you may find some glow worms! There are some walks which are dog-friendly, but please be mindful of other people and their animals. The circular walk on top of the hill will take around thirty mins and the walk at the bottom of the hill can take one hour.

If you prefer a seaside walk, then make your way over to Hengistbury Head, and take a walk over the Head down to Mudeford Spit where you will find Britain’s most luxurious and expensive beach huts! Located at the end of the Spit, you will find a small café called The Beach House where you can sit back, relax and refuel. Mudeford Spit is well known for its sandy beaches and beach huts and hits the year-round summer aesthetic perfectly. The walk to the end of the spit and back approximately takes one hour.

Do you love horses? Christchurch has a nature reserve which often has horses that you can see. Visit Stanpit Marsh, park in the car park, and head over the park to the gate in the corner and it will take you out onto the Marsh for a lovely circular walk. If you come at the right time of year, you can see the newly born foals. The walk also has a lovely view out over towards Mudeford Spit beach huts. A perfect place to get a photo!

Why not explore the walks around Christchurch town, down past the priory towards the lovely quay? You are never far away from a scenic walk when you are visiting Christchurch!
